Of course we couldn’t choose a 5 stars restaurant to celebrate our wedding! Of course we couldn’t toast with champagne, caviar and sushi! Couldn’t we?
You deserve much better!
We spent the last 4 months surfing the Internet and travelling throughout the whole Lombardy looking for the perfect place where to celebrate this event!
And this is it! A real Rifugio, an alpine hut. Just like those you can reach only after 4 hours of hard hiking, but fully accessible! And this will make the day unforgettable (or unforgivable, you choose).
The Rifugio Alpe Lago is located in a side-valley of Valtellina. The way to the Rifugio goes all the way north, up the the very beginning of the Lago di Como and even further. It will take a 2-3 hours to get there (map).

But do not worry: we will rent a couple of buses, so you do not have to drive yourself (you’ll tell us weather you join or not). During the trip, our guests will be entertained by music, songs, lottery, etc. Andrea is preparing a 2 hours lecture about the history of Lodi, how it was founded by Federico Barbarossa, etc. Our friend from Cologne will be delighted.

Once at the end of the trip, we’ll walk up to the Rifugio (see the picture). The short path goes along a stream and it takes 5-10 minutes only. Enough to get us hated by whoever is not already upset of the long bus ride.
In any case we’ll be forgiven once you see what the lunch is: a feast with the best local dishes of Valtellina, Polenta taragna with deer meat and Pizzoccheri, just to say a few.

If the weather is merciful we’ll eat outside on a the wonderful balcony over the valley, on one side, and in front of the mountains on the other. It’s not unusual to spot wildlife from the Rifugio. You might be able to see eagles, steinbocks or marmots. If you do not see any deer, you might be just satisfied with the one you are eating.

After the meal we could still go for some serious hiking to a lake that should not be further than ¾ of an hour from the Rifugio. And have a bath, of course.

Two important points:
First, as you might have understood the path to the Rifugio is not a catwalk. Keep your nice shoes and clothing for an other occasion. High heels do not match the landscape. Better wear something more casual and comfortable.
Second, thanks to the global warming it is going to be the warmest june ever. Nonetheless, we are still pretty high in altitude and you had better take a pullover or something with you!

Whoever will not be able to join us in Lodi on June the 30th, and still want to take part to the party, might join us on the second date of our wedding tour!

This will be in Naples on August the 3rd. As we could find no typical alpine hut on the Vesuvius volcano, we decided to watch it from far away.
